Forum & Video Tutorial

Hi everyone!
Hope that everything is alright! Sorry for not updating the blog very much ‒ I know I said that would try to upload sketches daily, but I found myself busy during the past few weeks. I keep sketching and drawing, though ‒ but I still can't show you the results. :P

But well, I'm coming here to announce that Snatch59, the website runned by my friend, Billy Limerick, got a revamped look, with more features and, of course, a mini competition to celebrate the re-launch! The site is an art and design community, where you'll find news, articles and tutorials, plus you can also create your own portfolio and threads to show your works through the forums or simply discuss topics. The site is truly great, with lots of interesting content so, if you want to take part of this, just register on the site! ;)

And, after some while of silence, I'm also finally bringing you a new tutorial, released on Painting.DTuts ‒ you should really check the whole website, it's full of extremely helpful articles!
Mine is a video tutorial, actually, where I explain how a very basic face can be done on Photoshop, though if you use other softwares will work fine as well. I focused on creating a material for beginners, so I tried to cover everything done ‒ surely, I hope you'll like the video and that it'll be useful! :)
Thank you very much Marina and the team from Netrino Media for the great opportunity!

Hugs to all,
Karin

Quick Tutorials on Livestream

Last Sunday, with cold and nothing else to do, I decided to create an account on Livestream to share some little videos and tutorials! I've already released two of them: Color Blending and Painting an Eye.

Here they are:
Watch live streaming video from niraky at livestream.com

niraky on livestream.com. Broadcast Live Free

The eye's result suppose to be like the image on the left, not the one shown in the video. After recording the first one (embedded above), I decided to do a parallel video, this time showing some touch ups, like color corrections, contrasts, additional details, etc. but Livestream Procaster (the software which allows to release live videos) didn't save it! :( I'm really sorry! Still trying to familiarize myself with the software and its commands... Argh! :/
But well, if you want a result like the image above, just reduce the constrast of your picture! Less contrast usually provides a more photorealistic look! :)
Anyway, I believe this videos haven't shown much things yet, but I hope they'll be useful until I release an another tutorial!

Good luck!

A New (Old) Video

I actually started this way before Live Water, but didn't manage to finish it yet. :P
Here's a "video preview" (and painting as well), about... 20 minutes of work, I don't know:

Not very attractive at this point! :P

Yes, I work with 2 windows – it's very, very useful, you should try it when painting on a large file!
I'm currently in an advanced stage of this painting – doing the hair to be more specific – but far from the end... Didn't decide yet if I'm going to do just a plain portrait or not. Hmmm...

Well, to close this post I'm leaving with you a great video from Ayumi Hamasaki (浜崎あゆみ)! I think she's great! Not only her music but her videos and outfits as well – they're all inspiring! ♥

I hope you'll like it.

Take good care everyone!

VIDEO: The Making Of Live Water

Finally the video is up! I'm really sorry for the delay! I took MUCH more time editing this video than I should, what a shame!!!! :(

Well, it didn't suppose to be that long. But I tried to make it shorter, about 10min, and it didn't work: the process has become too fast and confusing – and to cut parts of the video was out of the question. So, I decided to keep this duration. I really hope it's not too boring!

Many thanks to Vibrasphere and Emancipator for the music!! You should really listen to them, this guys are just amazing!
And here's the video, I hope you'll like it!

You can check what tools I used to record and edit the video here, on the description. And if you want to see the final work, please click here.

Take good care everyone!

Consume Me!

So..., since I'm still editing the video recording of Live Water, writing the tutorial and not updating my deviantART anymore (shame on me), I decided to post this picture, which I finished yesterday during afternoon and 2 cups of hot chocolate. Just for fun! :) Totally not the style I use to draw, but I think I liked. And for a totally irrelevant note: I realized that I have a strange obsession for the combination pink + yellow in my drawings. In this one, for example, the original colors were waaay different -- and nice as well, I think --, but I had to open the Color Balance in the end and choose something more... obsessive. Eek. ;)

And talking about styles I don't do very much, here're 3 old pieces I did for a class at university:

(I know... there're just 2. That's because the third contains mature content. Check it HERE!)

I traced over this photo to make the elephant -- because I got lazy and, most importantly, a short time to do everything.
Anyway, hope you like them!

And I'm probably the last person on Earth to watch the short film Alma, but I'm posting it anyway because I was blown away! So creepy and beautiful at the same time! Thanks to my friend Letícia, who sent me!
Enjoy!

Anyway, I hope to upload some new pieces and news in my dA very soon and to change this ugly layout! I'm almost done what I have to finish... really need some freetime to spare.

Hugs to all,
Karin
